• Grade 2 Flute Exam Success

  Well done to this Year Five pupil for passing her Grade Two flute exam.  This exam was a little different as it had to be completed online (extra pressure).   She did extremely well and not only passed but achieved a Merit!

   

  It is great when pupils develop a talent with an end goal in mind.   This young lady aspires to be a Music Teacher just like her wonderful tutor Claire Fitton. 

   

  We are so grateful for our partnership with Shropshire Music and the high quality service it provides to all our pupils. 

   

  Well done and keep up the hard work and enjoyment!

  

• Random Pupil Selector

  I had a wonderful afternoon talking about learning with these pupils.   We discussed everything from the Stone Age, to how much water a nappy can hold, and just about everything in between.  They should all be very proud of their individual achievements this term.

   

  We had an excellent afternoon session of reviewing our curriculum in action. Teaching our children to reflect on their personal learning is an excellent process which will benefit them in the future.  Now have a well earned break children. 

  

• Bumper donations for the Foodbank

  Africa is a colourful place to study and these girls have created a brilliant map inspired by a book!  How many countries can you find?  This will help us to remember some key facts about the African Continent. 

  

• Random Pupil Selector is BACK

  It was great to talk to these wonderful children about their learning today.  All four of these children spent lots of time in the hub during lockdown during the summer term.  All of their parents are key workers. 

   

  I had a great time catching up with them all, talking about their achievements, what they need to work on next, and their areas of study this term.  Our curriculum is led by Geography at the moment and it was great to see lots of map work.  One young boy could explain to me all about where the school was in relation to his house on a map, and he is only 5!

   

  Keep up the good work children I am delighted to see you are still working hard. I wonder who the random pupil selector will pick next week. 

  

• Race for Life

  During these difficult times it is hard to fathom that on top of COVID many families are still battling with Cancer and a whole range of other conditions.   At the end of this month Mrs Phillips and her family will be stepping out to make a difference for personal and community reasons.  

  Please see below a little note from Mrs Phillips 

   

  I first started teaching at Criftins Primary School in 1985.  My children came to Criftins and my husband Fred was a governor.  In his role as governor he was instrumental in the building of the school hall, which is dedicated to his memory.
  He died on 26th September 2005, aged 45 after a 13 year battle with cancer.
  The Race for Life 2020 is taking place on 26th September so my children and myself are going to run in his memory on what will be the 15th anniversary of his death.

  As a school we are very grateful for the part he had to play in acquiring our school hall. This is a wonderful facility for all our children and the children in the future. Our best wishes are with the family as they step out together on the 26th September.

• Time to say Goodbye

  Goodbye to Year 6.

  Each year brings with it such pleasure as we work together to help our Year 6 make the transition to High School. This year of course has brought with it such unprecedented events which have been a challenge. On Thursday 16th July we say goodbye to our fabulous Year 6 and wish them every success as they move on. Our Year 6 parents will be able to join with us via Zoom at 2pm.
