What has been happening in school? Have a read 😊
I had a brilliant time with these children during our pupil voice session today. They were so enthusiastic speaking about our heritage curriculum. Each child spoke confidently about what they’ve been learning locally and how it connects to the wider unit they are studying. We are proud of our heritage curriculum at Criftins and it’s wonderful to see the impact on our children.
Our KS1 Gymnastics team took part in an inter school competition held at the Marches school. They each individually performed a floor and bench routine, confidently in front of 8 other teams and judges.
This week our Rotakids continued to plan and prepare for their upcoming charity fund raising. A school disco is planned for Friday 11/04/25 and also an Easter egg colouring completion. Money raised will be sent to The Salvation Army with a follow up meeting to understand more about how the impact of the money raised will support this worthy charity.
Nine of our Year 6 children who are due to move up to Lakelands in September enjoyed a multi sports morning organised by Year 10 Lakelands’ pupils and our SGO Louis Gray.
Lakelands Academy has been participating in a Youth Voice project with the Youth Sports Trust, as a result of the project the group of Year 10 students who took part decided to organise a multi sports festival for Year 6 students who will be joining the school in September. Three of the leaders today were pupils from Criftins so not only was it great to see them but also familiar faces that our Year 6 will recognise when they start in Year 7.
This morning Class 2 welcomed Reverend Gareth into class to tell us all about Holy Week. He showed us his communion set that he takes on home visits, Icons representing The Last Supper and The Crucifixion as well as a miniature donkey to represent the one that Jesus rode on Palm Sunday. We were able to ask questions and share our knowledge of Easter with him.
Criftins Pupils discovered lots about Ramadan this week and this tied in really well with all of the work that classes did in RE last half term. This was also an opportunity to develop Ramadan focused activities that we have been doing during the month of Ramadan. It is so important to have an understanding of all faiths and their celebrations. Islam is the second largest religion in the UK.
Headteacher Mr. Gino M Rushton was delighted and honoured to be invited to represent school at The New Saint's Football Ground.
Local businesses and schools who have supported TNS were invited to meet with HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. Criftins CE Primary is delighted to support TNS and will continue to offer Ball Sports After School Club and maintain our link with the club. It truly was an honour and a privilege to meet with and speak with Prince Edward.
Nicky Green, Senior Community Fundraiser from Severn Hospice, came into Celebration Assembly to talk to us about the important work they do and the huge amount of money they have to raise each year.
They presented a cheque for the final figure that Criftins School raised from the Rudolph Relay - £614.98!
Thank you so much for your support!
Both our girls and boys teams qualified for the final at Ellesmere College, competing against 6 other schools from North Shropshire. Displaying all the Schools Games values, the girls finished in 3rd place and the boys took 4th which is a credit to the teams competing against much larger schools. Three members were also awarded medals for individually displaying 3 of the values; determination, self-belief and respect.
Huge congratulations to you all!
Each week our Picture News Team share current news and Worldwide topics to the whole school. Developing an understanding of global news is important. They use the resources provided and always demonstrate such confidence when presenting.
