Our sports plans are well established and have been effective in raising the profile of sport within the school for all pupils. Each year we evaluate our provision and continue to build our partnership and resources. We have achieved the Platinum School Games mark due to our consistent evaluative approach to Sport and Healthy Lifestyles.
"This is a totally inclusive school. Leaders have high expectations for all pupils and support pupils to achieve exceptionally well. Sport is also high priority, including inclusive sports such as boccia and curling." Ofsted November 2022 |
We are delighted to announce that we, Criftins C of E Primary School, have achieved the School Games Platinum Mark Award for the 2021/22 academic year. The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward and recognise school’s engagement (provision and uptake) in the School Games against a national benchmark and to celebrate keeping young people active, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success. We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of physical activity and school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our events possible. We are committed to using the School Games to try and engage those young people who haven’t previously been active or represented our school and to try and ensure that all our students have a positive experience and want to try out new activities beyond school too in our community. We believe in the power of physical activity and school sport as a school and give opportunities to those young people that need it most either as a participant, leader, official or volunteer. As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas linked to the five School Games outcomes and we are pleased that he hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year. We look forward to applying once again in 2023!
2017/18 is the third academic year in which the GOLD School Games award has been achieved. Read below some of the comments about our ever growing offer of sport. We have been through a rigorous external moderation process this year and this is the feedback.
The validation highlighted that the school was offering a very strong sports programme across all areas of the award, including:
The school offers a wide range of sports to their students, competing in 8 at Level 1 and 14 at Level 2. For the 2018/19 academic year.
The sport offer is supplemented by the schools Sport Organising Committee who plan and develop School Games activity within school.
The school promote the School Games to parents and the local community via the website, school letters, the school app, noticeboard and the achievement assembly which is attended by parents.
The school utilises students to help lead, manage and officiate in School Games activity.
The school trains wider school staff to support the delivery of school sport and physical activity and are looking to utilise coaches to enhance this development in the 2018/19 academic year. The school should be proud of this application and the evidence collated as part of the process. Well done on your award, and good luck planning and delivering 2018-19.
