What a wonderful day of meeting with a champion basketball player and Guinness World Record holder. Standing at 7 foot 8 was just incredible to see and a true insight into the world of champions. Paul worked with every class, we took hundreds of photographs, what an amazing experience.
This week we welcomed Mrs and Mr Mukotekwa and their daughter into school to share with us life in Zimbabwe. We loved finding out about a beautiful part of the world. Using lots of wonderfully selected images we looked through a PowerPoint which explained about food, transport, education and life in Zimbabwe. It was amazing to find out more about one of the Ancient Wonders of the World - The Victoria Falls. Being able to see what life is like in Zimbabwe allowed us to experience wonderful sights, tourists attractions, but also to see how life is so similar yet different in another part of the world.
Thank you for visiting our Final Summer Term Class Webpage. This term we have lots to do including our Year 6 Sat's and preparation for transition to High School. It is also a very exciting term full of fun and learning. Make sure you pop back regularly to see what we have been doing.
Year 6 worked really well with Kate Raggett setting out the design in readiness for the whole school to add bottle tops.
We’ve had a brilliant day at The Holroyd Theatre at Moreton Hall School. We were taught songs by two men from ‘John’s Boys’ (a male voice choir who were on Britain’s Got Talent last year). Towards the end of the day, we performed the songs to an audience. What a wonderful experience!
With only a couple of weeks to go we decided to organise all of our bottle tops ready for our exciting project. We cannot wait to see how each bottle top will becoming part of an exciting outdoor art creation.
A special visit this morning from Juliet Shone, John Shone and Deputy Lieutenant, Diana Flint. Year 6 were awarded a special certificate for their participation in Princess Anne’s visit to Ellesmere. Mrs Flint also read out a letter she had received from the Princess Royal’s lady in waiting.
We had a wonderful Spiritual visit to the Little Chapel to celebrate May Day Bank Holiday. As well as sharing Art work we were also able to read prayers and hymns from the Pulpet. A huge thank you to Rosemary Craven and Reverend Gareth for inviting us.
Our Year 6 pupils were invited to sing for HRH Princess Anne alongside pupils in Cockshutt C of E Primary School. The children beautifully sang two songs and spoke to the princess about the worksheet they were completing in between songs. The sun was shining and we had a brilliant time. A memorable day for our children that they won’t be forgetting anytime soon!
Thank you to Juliet Woollam for providing us with this special opportunity and teaching us the songs.
This term we are using our time to explore the wonderful biography of Jacques Cousteau through the book Manfish. This is a fascinating journey of discovery of one of the greatest ever, underwater explorers. We link our work to drama and freeze frames.
We place great emphasis on regular activity, movement and Physical Education. It is important that pupils grow up recognising the importance of a healthy lifestyle and also the fun and excitement of P.E.
This term we are focusing on the skills of Fielding and catching.
