Well done!

The whole school from Reception to Year 6, including staff, took part in the National Santa Dash. This took place on the 11th December when we joined thousands from across the country for the School Games Virtual Santa Dash.

These children were awarded rugby balls for being good communicators, good listeners and giving 100%, T-shirts were awarded for good behaviour and helping out. Well done everyone!

Well done to this young man who has been awarded a rugby ball from Beyond Coaching for being a tactical thinker, who asks constructive questions, listens to answers and will try to adjust and adapt. He has excellent vision, spotting players to pass to and best of all he is unselfish and plays for the good of the team by offering support to others who might be struggling.

This half term we have been taking part in the School Games 15 minute challenge - each week the children from Class 2, 3 and 4 have been using their Daily Mile time to run/walk for 15 minutes. We have recorded their distances each week and noted individual improvements from November to the end of term - it has been great to see how many children have improved over the half term and so we are aiming to continue this challenge during the rest of the school year. Certificates were awarded to those who had improved the most.

Panathlon

Earlier this week pupils took part in a range of physical activities. This included football, basketball, bean bag throwing and tennis ball throwing and catching.

Pentathlon.

In the afternoon all of class 4 joined together for a series of athletic challenges. It was great fun working for team points whilst also exercising and having fun.

***FRONT ROOM FITNESS**** In these difficult times it is important that we remain as fit and healthy as possible but the weather and the changing of the clocks has made it more difficult. Sally Harris, our Parent Governor, has developed a short daily challenge that can be done inside without any equipment. Each exercise takes 30 seconds and ideally needs to be done 3x each day and can be recorded and brought into school each week so we can select a weekly class winner. Scroll down to download the record sheet and good luck!

Class 2 have been looking at Invasion Games in PE this half term - they have practised with different pieces of equipment and taken turns playing as attackers and defenders.

Daily Mile for class 1

School Games 15 minute Personal Challenge. Class 2/3/4 are all competing in the School Games Challenge over the next 7 weeks to improve fitness levels. A great start today'

We have had a great afternoon of sport today. Year 5 and 6 have been practising their rugby skills by playing netball rugby and basketball rugby. Their passing and catching skills have improved considerably as well as their communication skills.

Class 1 are all enjoying this week's PE lesson - we are looking at Games this term whereby we can begin to develop skills for use in simple net, striking/fielding and invasion-type games.invasion

School Games 2020/21

Although we are unable to go out of school to compete in sports events at the moment we are lucky enough to have our School Games Organiser and School Cluster Organiser arrange events whereby we take part in school and then send in our results - these competitions include all our Key Stage children from Year 3 to Year 6.

The first event is the Primary School Challenge which involves a Shuttle Run and a Standing Long Jump competition which we have begun to collect scores for in school, our second event is New Age Kurling which will soon be starting in school.  Our third event is the Back to School Games Competition organised by our North Shropshire SGO Mollie Croxon.  The results of this will be entered online to a regional (North Shropshire), County and National School Games competition.
