Sports Summer 2021

KS1 Sports Day Winners 2021

KS2 Sports Day 2021

It was wonderful to be able to hold our Sports Day this year on the school field and to make it even more perfect the sun was shining too!  It was so special to be out together as a KS albeit in their bubbles.

This year we ran 6 stations: Shuttle Run, Long Jump, Speed Bounce, Vertical High Jump, Chest Push and Javelin.  The scores went towards a total and Gold, Silver and Bronze certificates awarded to each Year Group.

The range of events meant that there was a favourite for everyone and the smiles on the children’s faces were proof of that!

KS1 Sports Day

The Year 6 children have, this year, planned and run the KS1 sports day from organising activities, making their score sheets, scoring and running each station.  We had a variety of throwing, running, ball skills and multi skills; each station was run brilliantly with them organising each group by telling and helping them with their activity.
This has given them an insight into the all-round skills that are needed to run a competition and the responsibilities that go with it - they all rose to the challenge which resulted in a well-run and very enjoyable afternoon.
Thank you Year 6!

Skipping Workshop - today Key Stage 2 children took part in skipping sessions run by Charis from ‘Dan the Skipping Man’. They have learnt to do basic skipping, some skipping tricks (crossover and pretzel) and long skipping - log in to YouTube and ‘Dan the Skipping Man’ to find out how to do more tricks and help with those we have done today.

Criftins’ Year 6 took part in the Energize Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Primary School Games Well-being Week Challenge.

Year 6 After School Club practising partner balances.

Gymnastics Taster Session
Mrs Ellis has led a gymnastics taster session in school today.  The session involved fun activities giving the children an insight into gymnastics and the development of fine and gross motor skills.

Virtually Boccia Round 3. This is our final round of the National Boccia competition - all scores will be sent to the organiser and we will await our results. The children have all enjoyed the challenges that were set and it will have increased their control and speed of beanbags and balls.

Border Counties Gymnastics Summer Gym

Year 6 children from Class 4 were joined by Cockshutt’s Year 6 for a sports morning at Lakelands School.  They took part in an Archery and Tri-Golf competition, enjoying target archery and distance archery and afterwards playing 4 different Tri-Golf activities.  It was good to see them participating as a Year group at what will be, for some of them, their new School in September and seeing familiar faces from our federated schools.  It was, again, so good to be going out of school and enjoying a morning of sport.

Year 5 Rounders. The Criftins Year 5 Rounders team took a trip to The Marches School today to play against other teams from our School Games cluster.. We played 5 very close matches which resulted in a final position of third place, the children enjoyed be able to get out to a competition again and will be looking forward to playing as Year Sixes next year.

It was Tennis Taster Day at Criftins with Years 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 taking part in a fun morning outside. The children all practised their throwing, catching and hitting with great success. Criftins Tennis Club is our nearest club and so anyone who wishes to join needs to contact Ryan. A link to do this will be sent via the School app.

James, from Cricket Shropshire, has been into Criftins today for a whole day of cricket engagement. Every year group have had their own session practising fundamental skills, hand eye coordination, bowling at targets and having batting practice off a cricket tee in a batting skill set and finishing with a game called Bird Poop which puts all the skills they have learnt into practise. Luckily the weather didn’t stop us having a great time as we have such a wonderful hall! If anyone is interested in joining a local club please visit all stars.co.uk.
