This term we have enjoyed using water colours and used our time to research JMW Turner. After practising skills we then worked on our final piece.
Today we worked virtually linking together on TEAMS to investigate and find out about the skin condition eczema. Around 2.5 million children in the UK suffer from eczema. Our work today made use of moisture meters and also research and understanding so that we know more about the condition.
Today we joined online with other schools for a virtual assembly to find out more about Islam and Muslims practices. This month is a special time of fasting followed by a huge celebration. It was fascinating finding out about multi faith cultures and also being able to ask questions to deepen our knowledge and understanding.
Today we made our way across to our Newly built Reading Shelter. It was exciting to see how our DT work on structures had lead to the real construction of a Reading Shelter. When we got the shelter it was wonderful to be met by Jake Evans a story teller. He amused us, amazed and entertained us with his stories.
Being able to ride a bike is great, a super way to stay fit and healthy and a great way to travel. But it is important that cyclists understand about road safety and how to observe the rules of the road. This week our Year 6 pupils began their training. Our training includes bike control on the playground followed by instruction out on the road.
Everyday is a day for reading but nationally today was a focus on World Book Day. We were able to come to school in comfy clothes, bring a book and have some fun.
Today was all about bringing our final part of learning to a an afternoon of selling our business ideas. Over the past few months we have developed an understanding about money, finance and how to create a business. Working in groups we created an idea, organised advertising and pricing. Today was all about selling our products to the rest of the school. A huge thankyou to Natasha from Virgin Money, helping us to achieve this project. We would also like to thank all the adults, staff, pupils, parents and PTA for all their support and help.
This week is a special week as we focus on Mental Health. Starting the week with a wonderful LIVE performance from Now and Beyond we found out about ways we can be kind, helpful and strong. Looking after our Mental Health is important so we can enjoy life and develop to be happy citizens.
Today we had great fun interacting and engaging in two live lessons to help us stay safe when online.
Today we joined with the National focus on Internet Safety. We started the day by joining online with ParentZone for lots of interactive fun and learning about keeping safe online.
Today was a totally different day as we welcomed the fabulous Miss Evans for a FULL day dedicated towards History. Starting with the concept of Heritage and local study we began our study of King Offa and Offa’s Dyke. As the day progressed we had great fun doing a quiz and also producing Coins in the style of what would have been used. Great fun, great learning !
On Friday we will be travelling to AICO in Oswestry to present our ideas about the shop front. Working together in our groups we have photographed our models, used our sketches and designs and begun the process of using Microsoft PowerPoint to present our ideas. At AICO we will use their facilities to showcase our work.
Learning about life saving is an essential skill. At anytime an accident could occur in school, out on the streets or at home. Knowing what to do in an emergency could save a life.
Over the new 3 weeks class 4 will be finding out about First Aid techniques.
This term we begin an exciting and new topic using the wonderful Sound Editor Audacity.
Today we welcomed West Mercia Police as they came to talk to our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils. Knowing about how to stay safe is an important life skill. The police today shared understanding of how to deal with strangers and also drug awareness.
Over the past few weeks pupils have been using Home Learning time to focus on creating a 3d model of their Shop Front and interior. Each shop design is part of our Oswestry project where we have been asked to think of a shop for Oswestry.
Our first week was a huge celebration as we all gathered to celebrate Journey Day. This is a very special day which involves the whole school and develops our understanding of Christianity and stories from the Bible.
As we begin our New Year we also begin a new unit of work using the beautiful book of Kai and The Monkey King.
