Our Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 girls travelled to Lakelands School to take part in a Football Session with 260 girls playing. We were a part of England's 'Biggest Ever Football Session' which saw thousands of girls training across the country on International Women's Day 2023. A record 285,000 girls from schools across England took part in the FA and Barclays' Let Girls Play Biggest Ever Football Session. They had a great afternoon even though the weather was against them!
We support:
Barclays Girls’ Football School Partnerships by England Football (BGFSPs) is a nationwide scheme that aims to mainstream football in schools for girls. Supported by the Youth Sport Trust the initiative will create a network of 300 BGFSPs by 2024, each with a dedicated education expert with knowledge and understanding of education and girls’ football in their local area.
Our Basketball team went to the Marches this week to play in an inter-school mixed competition where they played against 7 other schools. They finished in 2nd place after the first round winning 2 matches and losing one which meant they qualified for the trophy final where they also won two and narrowly lost one. The result was 1st place to the Meadows, 2nd to Bryn Offa and Criftins were 3rd which meant we took 1st place in the Ellesmere cluster - great achievement!
