We started our first full day with a Min Y Don breakfast - options of cereal, toast, fruit, yogurts and even a cooked breakfast. After finishing, the children were given a basket of bread and sandwich fillings to make their own lunch for later.
Our first activity was zip wiring. All of the children had multiple turns and loved it. After lunch, we ventured out onto the estuary for kayaking, surrounded by beautiful views and sunshine. It was very muddy on our way back to the boathouse and the children were slipping and sliding all over the place- there was a lot of face planting and laughing!
Our final activity of the day was archery, and the children made really good progress during the session. For dinner this evening, we enjoyed fish and chips, followed by crumble for dessert. Some of the children were called up to help tidy away the plates and lay out the cutlery for the morning. They did a marvellous job- they’ve obviously been well trained at home! We finished the day with a game of dodgeball, hot chocolate and an epilogue about friendship. The children are having a brilliant time.
What a brilliant first day we’ve had! We arrived to sunshine and began with a tour of the grounds. After settling into our rooms and unpacking, we geared up for our first activity- climbing and abseiling. The tower was quite tall, but all children gave it a go, with many going for multiple climbs! Great words of encouragement from the group throughout. It’s lovely that we are in one large group for the activities. We also enjoyed some free time which included relaxing in the lounge, playing in the games room and exploring the site. Dinner was a success with lots of empty plates- shepherd's pie and chocolate brownies tonight! After dinner, we headed outside to play a game called smugglers. Great fun! We wrapped up the evening with hot chocolate and a reflective epilogue led by one of the Min y Don team members.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
