What has been happening in school? Have a read 😊
Our Year 5 children attended a tennis festival at the amazing tennis facility at Ellesmere College this week. The event was organised by our SGO Louis Gray and run by Tennis Shropshire, the children enjoyed drills and racket practice helping to improve their skills.
The John Beswick International Award is in memory of John Beswick, a former lecturer at Loughborough Physical Education College and then Shropshire PE adviser between 1952-1976. John was also a founder member of the SSSA in 1953, was elected chairman of English Schools’ Athletic Association for 1966, and awarded an MBE for services to Shropshire sport.
Every year the SSSA recognises the significant achievement of young people participating in sport at the annual awards evening held at Wrekin College. In addition to individual awards, there are a number of other presentations including awards to the most successful Shropshire Primary and Secondary Schools.
The Awards evening is recognition of the tremendous work and commitment of young people and also the teachers, coaches and parents.
I am very pleased to inform you that the Executive Committee have awarded the Peter Cates Primary School Achievement Award to Criftins C. of E. Primary School. This wonderful news demonstrates our commitment towards promoting a healthy lifestyle and also our involvement in Physical Education, competitions and events undertaken throughout the year. Mrs. Palmer has been instrumental in continuing to drive our sporting achievements and her commitment has been rewarded through this very special and honoured award. Well done and thank you to you all.
Today was a wonderful gathering of our local community for Reverend Gareth's first Messy Sunday at St. Matthew’s Church.
It was great seeing the scouts, children and families from Criftins CE School and members of the local community.
Thank you to all those involved in making today such a special and fun day. Crafts to do, food to eat and a special Service reminding us of Lent.
Our next TGI Messy Church will be Good Friday. We hope you and your family will be able to join us.
We were privileged to have Imran come to talk to us about the 5 Pillars of Islam. The children were captivated! We all learned a lot.
There are two Rotary Stars Awards. These are running simultaneously and are a chance for our children to be recognised by both school and Ellesmere Rotary Club. Pupils who go above and beyond will be nominated and may then be awarded a certificate for success, progression, or making a positive impact and showing good citizenship in the school or local community.
Back by Popular demand is our Annual PTA Bingo Night. Its time for eyes down and a great evening for everyone to have fun, take part and a chance to win prizes. Please check your diary as we hope to see you all on the night. Bring a friend, bring your family and let's have fun together.
This Sunday, St Matthew’s Church will be hosting a Messy Church invite to all. With a focus on thinking about the time Jesus spent in the desert, with desert-themed crafts and delicious food it is a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours joining together as a community.
Today we welcomed our local vicar Reverend Gareth into our school. Gareth talked to us about the Seasons and how the church has seasons. It was wonderful to hear stories from the Bible to help us to understand about life today. Gareth introduced us to Lent and why many Christians at this time of year give up something in remembrance of Jesus in the wilderness. We look forward to welcoming you back in school.
We are thrilled to be gifted some Usborne books on health and mental health . The children wasted no time in reading them!
Each week pupils lead a very special News Worthy Assembly using the wonderful resource of Picture News. This resource is a collection of up to date and topical world wide issues. Pupils have the opportunity to share this news, reflect and discuss their thoughts. A great way for pupils to develop skills whilst also developing their understanding of current affairs and news events.
