What has been happening in school? Have a read 😊
Year 6 hosted a fantastic bake sale to raise funds for their end of year trip to Chester. We are so grateful for the generous cake donations from our families and for everyone who supported us by buying a cake and a drink. We raised £150 – a brilliant contribution towards making our trip possible!
Criftins School Sports Day was an afternoon for the whole school from Nursery to Year 6, the children took part in field and running events competing for their houses, all showing determination, teamwork, passion, respect and self-belief-well done everyone!
Our thanks go to Lakelands young leaders who came in to help with the KS1 stations.
This year marks 30 years of the Youth Sport Trust, and they are making it bigger than ever!
National School Sports Week is calling on schools, families and organisations to get involved, host the UK’s biggest ever Sports Day, and champion 60 minutes* of PE, sport and play every day to help all young people be Always Active.
60 minutes active is so important to us at Criftin: this week we have extra lunchtime activities on the school field, run by Miss Onley, tennis and cricket coaches in school, sports afterschool clubs, sports day practice and a visit to Oswestry School to play tennis.
There are resources on the Youth Sports Trust for families to register and access-

We’ve been celebrating Farming Fortnight across the school this week. Children have taken part in important discussions, a live Q&A with a group of farmers and engaging lessons exploring where our food comes from, different types of farming and the factors that impact farming.
We’ve also enjoyed fantastic presentations from the children, who have shared photos, their own knowledge and farming experiences. Thank you parents/carers for your help in making this happen.
Where would we be without our farmers? A huge thank you to all those in our community who help bring food from field to fork!
Today we welcomed Jill into school to share some of her fascinating metal detecting finds, all discovered in the fields near school.
The children were excited to handle the objects and learn about their history including Victorian coins and some intriguing items that might even be Roman!
A big thank you to Jill for giving up her time to inspire the children and bring local history to life.
Naomi, from Cricket Shropshire, has joined us today for the first of 5 coaching sessions.
