  • School Games Platinum Award for 2021/22!!!!

    Mon 18 Jul 2022 S Palmer

We are delighted to announce that we, Criftins CE Primary School, have achieved the School Games Platinum Mark Award for the 2021/22 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in
2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward and recognise Criftins CE Primary School's engagement (provision and uptake) in the School Games against a national benchmark and to celebrate keeping young people active, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of physical activity and school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our events possible.  We are committed to using the School Games to try and engage those young people who haven't previously been active or represented our school and to try and ensure that all our students have a positive experience and want to try out new activities beyond school too in our community.  We believe in the power of physical activity and school sport as a school and give opportunities to those young people that need it most either as a participant, leader, official or volunteer.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas linked to the five School Games outcomes and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

    A special thanks to:
Criftins' children, staff and parents for helping us to achieve this auspicious award.

Heritage study is about linking learning of subjects with our local area. Class 3 and class 4 today joined together for a wonderful Railway experience. With a huge thank you to The Cambrian Railway pupils today enjoyed a guided tour of the museum, use of on site facilities and a return train ride. It was amazing, the Cambrian Railway experience is well worth a visit so that you can travel back in time to find out about this once well used railway line.

  • Sports Day

    Thu 07 Jul 2022

Great to see everyone together and enjoying the outdoors. Being active is so important as is community and it was wonderful to be able to invite our parents in this year to see their children competing in school.  Our KS1 children were led by the Year 6 leaders who had organised their own stations from design to scoring, it was run incredibly efficiently!

The KS2 children competed in a Pentathlon in the afternoon, both events ended with the traditional running races.  The results of the team event will be announced in our Sports Assembly next week!

  • STEM Workshop !

    Mon 04 Jul 2022 STEM

Working across our two school is always exciting. It was wonderful today as all our year 6 pupils across our Federation gathered for an amazing workshop on designing and engineering. Each group worked to design, construct and make a working model vehicle. As the day progressed pupils linked laptops and Crumble devices to program their working model vehicles. A huge thank to Leeanne and Bailey from The STEM Workshop who made this project possible.

  • Merefest - a success!

    Fri 01 Jul 2022 M.Jones

What a wonderful community celebration for our 90 years.  We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.  It was simply fantastic to see families both past and present and I even found out that Criftins CE Primary School used to educate up to 15 years of age, I wish we could bring that back.

Thank you to Mr Jones and the PTA for all their dedication to the event. It was certainly one for the memory book. We raised an amazing £2,364.56 for our school reading shed which was designed by the children. When we set out on this venture we were concerned about breaking even so we are just blown away by the success of the event.

Do you want to do it again?
