  • Author Inspiration

We had a great visit to Whittington CE Primary School today to meet Peter Bunzl, the author of ‘Cogheart’. A huge thank you to Booka in Oswestry for arranging the visit.  It was so interesting to hear about character development, the editing process when writing a book, and how ideas come from the most unusual places.   Peter Bunzl was originally an animator and he said that this taught him a great deal about the structure of stories. We wish Peter every success as he launches book four in the series.

We had a wonderful time this morning sharing our reading habits both in school and at home. Reading is an essential life skill and forming good habits which develop a love of stories and reading brings a world of adventure for children.

It was good to compare the books we had in our reading bags and also encourage each other to keep trying when we find reading difficult.

  • William Morris Original

    Fri 17 Jan 2020 M.Jones
Mrs Reincke brought in an original William Morris wallpaper which belonged to her Grandmother today.   Class 3 have been studying the work of the William Morris.   William Morris was a British textile designer famous for his work during the Victorian Period. He also worked as a poet, novelist and translator.   What a creative man!  Why don't you have a look and find out more about him.  Many of his textile designs are reproduced commonly today and you might be able to spot them.
  • Greeting past pupils.

    Fri 17 Jan 2020 MJones

I had a wonderful time yesterday with two pupils from our Federation who have moved on to Lakelands. They loved telling me about all their lessons, how hard they are working and what they enjoy.

I asked them for advice for fellow pupils:

Enjoy Primary School while you can, people says it’s the best days but you don’t realise it is until it’s over. So enjoy it!

Work really hard in Primary and then you can relax a bit and get used to all the changes in year 7.

It is a small step up moving to Lakelands, it’s not scary.

We enjoy all our lessons and we have five lessons a day.

Don’t worry about friendships, we have made loads of new friends and we still see our old ones.

I felt very privileged to spend time chatting to our two wonderful children. They were delightful and so mature!

Thank you Lakelands for looking after our special children.

What a wonderful end to the week by having some quality time with pupils across the age groups to discuss Science. Each pupil shared their Science work which included research, questioning, investigating and experimenting. A wonderful example of Science in Action!
