What has been happening in school? Have a read 😊
Working across our two school is always exciting. It was wonderful today as all our year 6 pupils across our Federation gathered for an amazing workshop on designing and engineering. Each group worked to design, construct and make a working model vehicle. As the day progressed pupils linked laptops and Crumble devices to program their working model vehicles. A huge thank to Leeanne and Bailey from The STEM Workshop who made this project possible.
What a wonderful community celebration for our 90 years. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. It was simply fantastic to see families both past and present and I even found out that Criftins CE Primary School used to educate up to 15 years of age, I wish we could bring that back.
Thank you to Mr Jones and the PTA for all their dedication to the event. It was certainly one for the memory book. We raised an amazing £2,364.56 for our school reading shed which was designed by the children. When we set out on this venture we were concerned about breaking even so we are just blown away by the success of the event.
Do you want to do it again?
This week we have spent time thinking about how special each of us are. Knowing what makes each of us unique and special is so important. On Thursday of this week we wanted to focus on those people in our lives that have made a significant impact on us. From singers to athletes, doctors and nurses through to family members. Each of us makes a contribution to our wonderful world. Thank you to everyone for making today so special.
What a great day today as we welcomed the wonderful Tom Percival. It was great for us to be able to get together to meet a real author and illustrator. Tom shared with us his experiences. Tom also entertained us with his marvellous stories back in time and delighted us all with his great humour. Thank you for visiting us and inspiring us!
Today we welcomed former pupil Charlotte and Sheila from the Library Service to talk to us about The Summer Reading Challenge.
Every time a book is read, stickers are collected which builds up to completing a wonderful poster challenge and a chance to earn a certificate and medal upon completion. Reading is fun, especially through the Summer Holidays.
A group of children joined our SGO Mollie Croxon at Criftins Tennis Club for a fun morning of tennis!
Our boys' football team went to Whittington School to play in an inter school football tournament.
Today we welcomed Simon Airey from Exotic Animals who excited all of us with his wonderful animals. Linking our Science topics of Habitats was great fun as each class asked questions, found out new facts and was able to touch, see and feel amazing exotic animals.
A successful afternoon for the first outing of our girls' football team winning not only the competition but also a trophy for player of the tournament!
