What has been happening in school? Have a read 😊
Cockshutt joined us this afternoon for a fast game of basketball, we played 7 minute matches which resulted in a 11 -11 draw, it was great to see the children working as a team and having a great afternoon of team sport.
What a great afternoon we had at the Marches school today playing in the High 5 netball tournament. The children have to rotate positions in every match which gives them the opportunity to play each position on the netball court.
We played 3 games in the first round winning 1 and drawing 2 which qualified us for the trophy final where we played Oswestry School, Bryan Offa and Whittington. We won 1, drew 1 and lost 1 which meant we finished in 3rd place which was a terrific achievement.
I had a great time risk assessing the walking bus route with this family this morning. The route was lovely and crisp on this winter morning so we will restart the walking bus from Tuesday the 18th.
Please be patient with us because if we have a spell of wet weather we will need to reassess and possible stop the service for a period of time.
A huge thank you to one of our children who has spent some of his holiday making bird boxes with his grandad. We are delighted he has donated one to our forest school area, it is certainly better quality than those you buy in the shops. It is wonderful to see such a creative use of holiday time, a kind and caring attitude and life skills being handed down from one generation to the other.
Check out all the entries, they are amazing. Have a look at our news letter to see who the winners were. Thank you all for getting creative.
We had an action packed afternoon with the children from Years 4,5 and 6 playing an inter house dodgeball competition resulting in a win for Emerald, 2nd place was Sapphire, 3rd Diamond and closely followed by Ruby.
Chloe, from Oswestry based Chloe Elizabeth Dance Company, came into school today to perform some dance moves with the children from each class, they danced to Christmas music and the “Move It” track from Madagascar. There was a winning dancer from each group who won a chocolate Santa! Chloe is running a Christmas Dance Holiday Club 20/21/22/23 December - to book online go to www.cedc.co.uk Full Day £15, Half day £10 Lunch Included.
She serves breakfast, lunch and tea and now Mrs Cavell is teaching the children to make decorations. We love how everyone gets involved in our school. Thank you for decorating the tree Mrs Cavell.
It was wonderful today when the whole school joined together for our Annual Big Draw. The theme for this year- Make the Change. Recent events in the news was our drive and thoughts with our very own Eco Protest. No matter how big or small good habits created early can make a difference. This morning we gathered to create artwork and banners and then this afternoon took them outside and into the community for our very own Eco Protest. Great fun, with an important message.
We have completed our Year 5 and 6 Hockey competition today and the results were:
1st Diamond
2nd Sapphire
3rd Emerald
4th Ruby
Well done everybody!
