What has been happening in school? Have a read 😊
Inspired by the wonderful performances yesterday, some of our children wanted to perform some routines that they had been practising for the school to see.
What a superb day we’ve had. Pupils and staff looked fantastic in their 1940s costumes, setting the tone for a celebration! We enjoyed a street party lunch on the playground, followed by a fascinating talk from Malcolm and Gwenda (Mr Jones’ grandparents), who shared their memories of the Second World War and VE Day. In the afternoon, we came together for a special community celebration, with performances from each class. The event was well attended, the sun came out and our brilliant PTA sold tea and delicious cakes. It was a day to remember for years to come — and an important one to commemorate. Well done to everyone!
Today we made a great start on our VE Day celebrations by beginning work on a giant Union Jack made from bottle tops. Each class came out onto the field to help carefully place the tops in the correct position. Time-consuming, but lots of fun!
We are still in need of more bottle tops, so if you have any red, blue, or white, please do bring them in this week. Thank you!
The pupils had a great time biking to school today!
Just one week to go!
Come and celebrate with us! It’s a community event and everyone is welcome, so please help spread the word. We are looking forward to you joining us at 2pm. Please enter via the school gates and don't forget change/cash to buy a piece of cake and a cup of tea!
As a reminder, we’ve invited children to come dressed in 1940s-style clothing. Please don’t worry if you can’t find anything specific—a shirt, polo top and trousers or a dress/skirt and top will be absolutely fine.
Many thanks
Tonight after school our young Rotakids organised with the help of Jenny and our wonderful PTA, a charity disco. With dance offs, statues and games, food and a raffle it was time well spent and raised money for charity. Thankyou to all involved.
Today with the help of our volunteer Rotakids and Jenny, pupils organised an Easter Egg hunt for classes 1 and 2. Seeing pupils actively plan, prepare and organise an event like this is wonderful. Skills for the future and fun for today.
Every Friday at 8.15 am we meet at the Working Men’s Club to travel to school. What a super way to reduce congestion on our busy lanes, get some fresh air and feel invigorated for the day ahead. Thank you to all parents and pupils involved for joining in with this exciting new initiative !
This term we have a sporty theme to our termly house point treat, the winners were Wales! The children were delighted when they came into the hall and saw the climbing equipment! After a delicious ice cream they played scatter rounders and cricket- what a wonderful end to the day!
We are continuing to prepare for our next cross country competition due to be held on 1st May.
