The John Beswick International Award is in memory of John Beswick, a former lecturer at Loughborough Physical Education College and then Shropshire PE adviser between 1952-1976. John was also a founder member of the SSSA in 1953, was elected chairman of English Schools’ Athletic Association for 1966, and awarded an MBE for services to Shropshire sport.
Every year the SSSA recognises the significant achievement of young people participating in sport at the annual awards evening held at Wrekin College. In addition to individual awards, there are a number of other presentations including awards to the most successful Shropshire Primary and Secondary Schools.
The Awards evening is recognition of the tremendous work and commitment of young people and also the teachers, coaches and parents.
I am very pleased to inform you that the Executive Committee have awarded the Peter Cates Primary School Achievement Award to Criftins C. of E. Primary School. This wonderful news demonstrates our commitment towards promoting a healthy lifestyle and also our involvement in Physical Education, competitions and events undertaken throughout the year. Mrs. Palmer has been instrumental in continuing to drive our sporting achievements and her commitment has been rewarded through this very special and honoured award. Well done and thank you to you all.
Today was a wonderful gathering of our local community for Reverend Gareth's first Messy Sunday at St. Matthew’s Church.
It was great seeing the scouts, children and families from Criftins CE School and members of the local community.
Thank you to all those involved in making today such a special and fun day. Crafts to do, food to eat and a special Service reminding us of Lent.
Our next TGI Messy Church will be Good Friday. We hope you and your family will be able to join us.
We were privileged to have Imran come to talk to us about the 5 Pillars of Islam. The children were captivated! We all learned a lot.
There are two Rotary Stars Awards. These are running simultaneously and are a chance for our children to be recognised by both school and Ellesmere Rotary Club. Pupils who go above and beyond will be nominated and may then be awarded a certificate for success, progression, or making a positive impact and showing good citizenship in the school or local community.
