On Wednesday, Criftins brothers Ross, Ryan and Aaron (and mum) attended a very special ceremony in Wallasey. It was to unveil a riverfront memorial on Seacombe Promenade to recognise their great uncle’s bravery in the Second World War.
Their great uncle, whose name was Jack Potter, has been named a Battle of Britain and Dunkirk hero and his brave actions were the inspiration behind scenes in the recent hit film Dunkirk!
Jack Potter was one of the pilots flying Spitfires during World War II and was responsible for helping to save 200 service personne from HMS Basilik when it was sunk during the Dunkirk evacuation in 1940.
The ceremony was featured on BBC news and you can watch the full clip in the link below. See if you can spot any familiar faces!! https://criftins-ce-primary-school.primarysite.media/media/world-war-2-hero
