Criftins Church of England Primary School

Sports Autumn 2025

The Daily Mile Santa Dash - Criftins children, from Nursery to Year 6, took part in this fun, feel-good event which is all about getting children, teachers, and whole school communities moving together to celebrate the joy of being active. The Santa Dash is the perfect way to spread festive cheer while keeping everyone healthy and happy in the run-up to the holidays.

Criftins football team travelled to Oswestry School to take part in a football tournament.  They won their first 3 games, beating 2 Packwood teams and the Oswestry School team to go forward to the semi final where they were narrowly defeated.

Great work boys!

Our cross country runners took advantage of the sunny weather, running today in our free, lunchtime Cross Country Club, which is held weekly, weather permitting.

Year 5/ 6 Boys Football.

Our boys joined other local schools for a football tournament at Oswestry School.  They regularly practise with Mr Jones in our lunchtime football club, weather and field permitting, so it was a great opportunity for them to get out and put their practice into action.  The weather was perfect for football: wet and muddy with a magnificent rainbow.

A wonderful sporting afternoon enjoyed by all!

Our Year 5/6 girls football team joined 12 other teams for a cluster tournament at the Marches School. They played 6 nail biting games to finish in 4th place! Well done girls!

All 13 Year 5 and 6 boys were part of a group of 100 children who took part in a Flag Football training event at Thomas Adams School, Wem. The event was organised by Louis Gray, our School Games Officer for North Shropshire.

The stations were run by 35 of their amazing student leaders with a variety of drills teaching the children skills connected with the sport.

A wonderful morning of sport!

This Girl Can.

This event was held at the National Sports Centre, Lilleshall, organised by Energize, we joined 200 other girls from Shropshire for a day of fun and sport.

They took part in netball, cricket, boxing, archery and squash.

A fantastic opportunity for girls to try lots of different sports at an historic venue.

Year 3 and 4 Mixed Football. Our football team took part in the Year 3/4 mixed competition at Oswestry School. They won all their games without conceding a goal to win the whole tournament - well done to you all!

Henry, from Love, Play, Active has joined us for a few weeks to coach our Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 children in the fastest growing sport in Europe : Padel. They came in on Tuesday to give the children a taster session, we are also running an after school club to promote and encourage this new sport.

Our Year 6 Kurling team were runners up today at the Marches inter-school competition, competing against 10 other schools. They won every match, narrowly losing the final one against Whittington School by 2 games to 1. Great result for our first competition of the 2025/26 school year!
