As a Church school we are expected to not only study Christianity, but to provide an understanding of a range of religions and worldviews so that we can foster respect for others. Therefore, this week we have spent some time learning about the festival of Diwali. Pupils in Class 2 and 4 worked collaboratively to access a range of activities both indoors and outdoors. It was fantastic to see the respect and support between the different age groups. Activities included making clay Diya lamps, creating Rangoli using natural objects and with chalks, making lanterns, following a story trail of Rama & Sita, and finally colouring their own Diwali sheets. Pupils in Class 3 studied a range of Hindu artefacts as well as making Diya’s and Class 1 made paper plate Diya’s. What a wonderful celebration!
