Easter Holiday Homework

I am not setting any homework over the Easter holiday. I have told the children that if they want to do some, then to do some Maths Whizz and to practise their common exception words.
It’s been a long term and the children have worked exceptionally hard.
Whatever you have planned, enjoy, and see you in 2 weeks! 😊

Year 2 and 3 - No tests next week!

We have finished the spelling scheme for the spring term. They will start up again after the Easter holiday. Thank you for your efforts in learning these every week and supporting your child with their sentences.

This week, please continue to do Maths Whizz and practise times tables.

I have also posted photos of the common exception words for each year group. Common exception words are words where the spelling rules/phonics don’t apply. Many these exception words are used frequently, so children are introduced to different common exception words in each year group. It’s a case of just learning them off by heart.

Please continue to practise these. Year 3, focus on all of the words up to ‘important’. You will learn the rest of the words in Year 4.

Have a lovely weekend. 😊

One week to go!

Phonics Spellings - Test on 1.4.22

Year 2 - Test on 2.4.22

Year 3 - Test on 1.4.22

A super effort for homework this week, well done!! Thank you all for your efforts. It really does make a difference. 😊

Homework will be the same every week from now on;

• Sentences (do as much or as little as you deem appropriate for your child)

• Maths Whizz (30 mins for Y2, 45 mins for Y3) and Times Tables

• Spelling Practice

Year 2 - Test on 25.3.22

Year 3 - Test on 25.3.22

Phonics Spellings - Test on 25.3.22

As of this week (week 8), sentences are back!
Writing sentences for homework reinforces so many important skills, particularly at this age (Year 2/3). We want our children to be able to confidently formulate sentences whilst also thinking about their handwriting, finger spaces, use of punctuation and phonics.
The children are more than familiar with the times tables set up now, so it’s time for the return of writing sentences. Please upload these on to Seesaw before Friday morning, when we check them, or bring the hard copy into class for us to see. If you are finding it difficult to get ten sentences done every week, then please select an appropriate amount that works for you.

In addition to spellings/sentences, we ask that you continue with:

•Maths whizz (30 mins for Year 2, 45 mins for Year 3) and practise times tables.

•Reading. As much as you can! The more you read, the better reader you become. Please listen to your child read, and also read to them. They are equally as important.

Have a wonderful weekend!!
see you on Monday.

For week 7 of spellings, sentences are not required. I have explained to the children that they are more than welcome to do them, but only if they want to. The children will be doing both a times tables test and a spelling test next Friday (11.3.22) so please focus on practising these and Maths Whizz. The children have written their times tables scores in their reading record. When they achieve full marks, they progress on to the next times table.

The progression of tables is as follows:

10, 5, 2, 3, 4, 8, 6, 7, 9, 11, 12.

Next Friday is a PD day and the following Friday, we are on half term!😎

The children have three weeks to learn their spellings, so we are also asking for spelling sentences to be completed. The children can either upload these to SeeSaw or bring them in to school to show us.

Thank you! Your support is always so appreciated.
