Criftins Church of England Primary School

Natural Disasters Topic

Writing Inspiration

In class 4 we have the support and input by our very own resident published author, Mrs. Kate Long. Here we can see a small example of work conducted during an after school Writing Club. Learning never stops and writing is such fun.

War Time Hero.

One of the many exciting parts of being in Criftins is when pupils are invited into another class to share their knowledge and expertise. Here we can see one of our confident and articulate Year 6 pupils sharing family knowledge and information regarding World War 2. Class 3 pupils were delighted to see real artefacts shared about experiences from the war.

Parallel Circuits.

Experimenting Circuits has been such fun as pupils have discovered the effects of series, parallel and switches within their circuit work. We even managed to make our own type of resistor using staples !

I think it is snowing !

Luke Humphreys and Dylan Roberts made this model of a Pompeiian street.

Pupil led Learning.

Education is about pupils engaging in the world around them. Today we had a selection of pupils who had research topics at home. An erupting volcano and twisting tornado. Wonderful effort and great fun for everyone to see.

Natural Wonders !

Nepal Earthquake.

To start our work in class 4 we began with a study of the disaster in Nepal. Each group had a pack which provided vital information about how rescue efforts and resources could be used. All of our group work has then formed a new display in class. Pop in to see it all for yourself.

Models of Natural Disasters.

What an incredible way to start the term. Pupils have been busy making models over the Summer Holiday. Each model represents a natural disaster. We have volcanoes, information on the earth and even incredible 3D  work on tsunamis.

As with all homework set, your support and involvement is much appreciated.
