In a few weeks, the school will close and children will cheer to mark the end of this academic year! Before the children run for the doors to enjoy their long summer holiday, we want them to change another child’s life on the way out...
We ask that at the end of the last day of term, they take their school shoes off and place them on their desk and leave school barefoot. So those shoes, which are unlikely to be used again because feet grow over the summer or are a little scuffed so will be replaced in time for the new school year, won’t just sit in the shoe cupboard getting in the way, but will have a second life. We’d love for your child to take part. We will give the donated shoes to children in need via the wonderful work of Sal’s Shoes, a charity we have supported previously. A whole school leaving barefoot is a powerful message that we want to help those fellow school children who have no choice and leave school barefoot every day. Please help us to help others who are less fortunate than ourselves.
There is no obligation to take part but we would love to support this charity and the work they carry out in finding
new feet for pre-loved children’s shoes. To find out more about Sal’s Shoes you can visit their website www.salsshoes.com, on our website http://www.criftins.shropshire.sch.uk/fundraising/ or Facebook page www.facebook.com/salsshoes1
To assist with the fundraising we will be holding a non uniform day on the last day of term and we would ask that everyone brings in £1 to help with the postage to send the shoes we have collected. Any monies left over will be sent as a donation to the charity.
We are raising awareness for the British Heart Foundation. Each family will receive a sponsorship form asking for kind donations as the children will be competing in a fun filled Ultimate Dodgeball Tournament at school on 23rd June. All donations will be given to the British Heart Foundation with 20% coming direct to the school to raise funds for a "New Age Kurling" set. Please return your sponsorship forms by 20th June.
A GIFT FROM THE MOTHERS' UNION
We are delighted that the Mothers' Union have decided to support our school this year in equipping us with resources to promote 'Faith in Action'. I visited Welshampton Church to meet the local group today at their annual service with two of our wonderful Year 5 pupils.
We enjoyed learning about the history of the Mothers' Union and the impact of the organisation world wide. We also enjoyed the after service refreshments, meeting some new faces and spending time with some members of the Criftins Community. They are certainly making a difference.
